Chuck’s guide to the art of failure
Posted by on 09/03/2010
Upon re-reading some of my previous posts on Art and The Art World below, I’ve noticed some similarities to Chuck Connelly’s rantings, (without the drunkenness and the chain smoker’s voice). I am hoping my sardonic humor overwhelms the flavor of bitterness. For anyone who doesn’t know Chuck Connelly, here is a taste below:
Always Been an Artist?
Posted by on 08/10/2010
Every artist you speak to, will tell you that they always made art as long as they can remember and will be happy to show you their early work when they were like four. It wasn’t until I got to college that I really found out that I had an affinity for art and drawing. [...]
Conceptual Art – Two Projects
Posted by on 07/23/2010
I have two great concepts for short conceptual films/gallery shows that would be fabulous but I am way too busy (and/or mostly lazy) to bring them to fruition. So if there are any film makers out there who would like to contact me or just want to steal the ideas, please be my guest. Concept [...]
William Kentridge – Artist / Animator

Years ago, I was wandering around West Broadway in Soho, (this, before the West Broadway became a big fancy shopping mall and the galleries moved West), and I saw a big to-do around one gallery entrance. Getting to know me better, you will find that my interest is always piqued by any kind of hub-bub. I’ll [...]
Art as a Commodity
Posted by on 07/16/2010
I know that my view of the art world is a bit skewed and jaded, but as of today, I am saddened by the thought that there are really no more Leo Castellis* or Mary Boones** who are actively looking for new artists to promote. I get the feeling that of the biggest galleries in the [...]
Bravo’s Work-Of-Art
Posted by on 07/13/2010
I’ve been watching Bravo TV’s, Work of Art – The Next Great Artist. (The Project Runway for fine artists). First of all, don’t you think that it’s presumptuous calling it ‘The Next Great Artist’. Shouldn’t the winner of this game be vetted by some amount of time and at least a gallery show outside of [...]
